Relief Apprenticeship Missions Program

Friend Ships Unlimited is offering an exciting 1 year post High School Relief Missions Apprenticeship Training Program at our base, Port Mercy, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Learn about and participate in relief missions, while seeking out what God has ordained for your life!  Join with staff to carry on the work of the ministry and at the same time -

  • Explore God’s purpose for your life.

  • Study the “standing orders” Jesus left with us and develop your walk with God.

  • Learn about various facets of relief missions including food distribution, disaster relief, maritime ministry and medical missions.

  • Experience outreach to the community and the world!

Live aboard one of our humanitarian ships. Start the day with a devotional meeting and physical fitness activities.  Attend regular prayer meetings and Bible study sessions, exploring such topics as the purpose for which we are born, working as part of a team, developing Christian character, how to be an armor bearer to those over you, excellence and discipline in your craft and how to find and fulfill your calling from God.

Spend each day working alongside the Friend Ships staff, maintaining the facilities and carrying on the work of local and international missions.  Students assist in one or more of the following activities: preparation of supplies for shipment; fabrication of tents for disaster relief; grounds-keeping; ship maintenance; hospitality; food service; administrative support services.
